A CONCERT BY THE TALENTED ARTISTS TEO GERTLER AND ANTONIO GOMENA WAS HELD AT GRINZANE CAVOUR CASTLE, DURING A CHARITY EVENT, MARKING 9 YEARS OF THE RECOGNITION AWARDED TO THE VINEYARD LANDSCAPES OF LANGHE-ROERO AND MONFERRATO
The notes of the young talented artist Teo Gertler, a fourteen-year-old Slovakian-Hungarian soloist, with his 1681 violin, the fruit of the genial craft of Andrea Guarneri di Cremona, accompanied by Antonio Gomena, a talented musician who has to his credit performances at several national and international festivals, were echoed in the park of the Castle of Grinzane Cavour on Saturday 24 June - a preview of "Suoni dalle Colline di Langhe e Roero" (Sounds from the Hills of Langhe and Roero) - to mark the celebrations of the ninth UNESCO birthday of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato vineyard landscapes.
This emotional concert of classical music was the pinnacle of the week of celebrations, which opened on Sunday 18 June with the traditional Tribute: "Langhe-Roero and Monferrato: Waves of beauty and cultivated geometries in the vineyard landscapes and villages", and came to an end with an award ceremony for the most beautiful hillsides.
Marco Scuderi, the director of the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour, was doing the honours and hosted the event, which was opened by president Roberto Bodrito: “The Castle of Grinzane Cavour, a specific UNESCO site, is today one of the most popular tourist attractions and is certainly a symbol of our splendid territory, a protagonist over the years of extraordinary growth in terms of tourism and promotion of great wines and of the Alba White Truffle and, above all, is capable of working together by joining forces”. That was followed by the official welcome speech of Giovanna Quaglia, President of the Association for the UNESCO Heritage of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato Vineyard Landscapes, who referred to the preamble of the UNESCO charter: “Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed”.
The convivial food and wine event opened with the tasting of the products from the project named "Filiera corta nel Castello UNESCO" (Short supply chain in the UNESCO Castle), aimed at encouraging the development of short supply chains in local markets, promoted by the Piedmont Region and by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
Then, during the event - made possible thanks to the collaboration of Regione Piemonte, Ente Turismo Langhe Monferrato Roero and other important local organisations - the focus was on charity with the handover of proceeds of the 23rd edition of the Alba White Truffle World Auction - which is held in the halls of Grinzane Cavour Castle - to Organisations, Foundations and Committees with charity or social aims. Beneficiaries of the latest Auction are the Comitato Razom, aiming to rebuild a kindergarten in the city of Bucha, destroyed by war and the scene of a massacre of civilians on the outskirts of Kiev in recent months, and who was represented by its president Edoardo Bosio. A second cheque was given to the "Maratona per Elisa" project, with a donation to the Fondazione Piemontese per la ricerca sul Cancro, which - in memory of Elisa Raspino, with speeches by her colleague Gavino Bo and her son Davide Rolfi - will contribute to the aim of the Istituto di Candiolo to provide cancer patients with the best human and technological resources.
Other beneficiaries include the Fondazione Vialli e Mauro per la Ricerca e lo Sport Onlus, represented by vice-president Enrico Vallarolo, in the hope that the donation will help support cancer prevention and treatment, fund ALS research, as well as promote the growth and development of sporting activities. Another donation, with an eye on the territory, was given to the Fondazione Ospedale Alba-Bra Onlus), for the pictorial humanisation of the paediatric ward of the Verduno hospital, while another contribution was given to the Associazione Every Child is my Child Onlus, whose testimonials include actors Anna Foglietta and Andrea Bosca, and which pursues aims of social solidarity by promoting activities, initiatives and events meant to finance projects in aid of children, for all children living in situations of extreme hardship due to wars, natural disasters, poverty, marginalisation and illness.
Finally, the Enoteca's Board of Directors has decided to directly support some families in difficulty, through the Social Policies Departments of the municipalities of Alba and Grinzane Cavour, represented each personally by Elisa Boschiazzo and Elena Grimaldi, and therefore, by doing so, they will be able to provide concrete help and supports.
