ENOTECA REGIONALE PIEMONTESE CAVOUR HAS CLOSED AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON
EXCEEDED FOR THE SECOND TIME, AFTER 2019, THE THRESHOLD OF 50 THOUSAND ENTRIES TO THE GRINZANE CASTLE AND MUSEUM
What has just ended was definitely an excellent season for the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour, with significant numbers in tourist and visitor attendance.
In 2022, for the second time in the history of the prestigious manor, more than 50 thousand visits to Grinzane Castle and the “Museum of the Langhe” were reported.
A growth that has certainly benefited from the inscription in the list of World Heritage Sites protected by Unesco – of which the Castle of Grinzane Cavour is a specific site, a focus and symbol -, which has been enhanced over the years by new prestigious installations.
In 2021 the opening to the public of the groundbreaking In Vigna Museum, in 2022 the inauguration of the work of artist Olafur Eliasson and the Belvedere Vigna Gustava, thanks to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo.
Several events were held at the Castle, from the celebrations marking Unesco’s eighth birthday, to the “Barolo en primeur” and “Alba White Truffle” auctions, dates on a global scale that raised a staggering total of over 1.4 million euros, donated to charity projects in Italy and around the world and, last but not least, the prestigious visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
A boost of events that significantly marked the year of the Unesco lands and the Castle in particular, which saw the presence of over 130,000 visitors who came from all over the world to admire the park, the outdoor spaces and the Enoteca, or enjoy the modern and comfortable conference rooms.
The Enoteca Regionale will be closing for the winter break starting next January 9th and will resume operations on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, with a number of important events on the calendar. First on the agenda is the change of management of the “Al Castello” restaurant.
After eight years under Chef Marc Lanteri, Chef Alessandro Mecca begins a new experience at Grinzane Cavour Castle.
Born into the profession, after taking his first steps in the kitchen of his family’s restaurant, the historic “Crocetta” in Turin – where he learned the basic fundamentals of cooking and discovered a passion for traditional Italian cuisine -, his resume speaks of a long apprenticeship with experiences in the restaurants “L’Estate di San Martino” in Villanova d’Asti, “Guido da Costigliole” in Santo Stefano Belbo, “Al Sorriso” in Soriso and “La Ciau del Tornavento” in Treiso, enhanced by experience at “D. O.M.” in São Paulo with Alex Atala, among the leading exponents of contemporary Brazilian cuisine, up to “Spazio7” in Turin.
