ON SUNDAY 7 APRIL, THE CASTLE OF GRINZANE HOSTED THE NINTH EDITION OF THE EVENT THAT CELEBRATES THE BEAUTY OF WINE, RECOGNISED AS WORLD HERITAGE SITE OF HUMANITY.
GUESTS OF HONOUR: ETNA'S VINEYARDS, MANY AWARDS WERE PRESENTED.
A moment of reflection and exchange between experts, but above all an opportunity to keep the spotlight on the tenth anniversary of the recognition of the Langhe-Roero and Monferrato wine-growing landscapes included among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This is the spirit of the Tribute: "Langhe-Roero e Monferrato: waves of beauty and cultivated geometries in the vineyard landscapes and villages", now into its ninth edition, which was held on Sunday 7th April at the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, home of the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour.
Over the years, some of the world's most important wine landscapes have been celebrated. The 9th edition, part of the events marking the 10th anniversary of UNESCO recognition and organised in collaboration with the Consorzio Tutela Vini Etna Doc (Consortium for the Protection of Etna Doc Wines), paid tribute to the Etna Wine Landscapes, a unique reality that has made Mount Etna a World Heritage Site since 2013.
A highly emotional moment of the day was the award presented to Sonja Milenova, a migrant worker of Macedonian origin who has been working in the Barolo hills for 20 years and who was honoured for her important example of good integration and ethical duty.
The programme also included the presentation of awards to the vine-growers and municipalities that together look after the most beautiful vine-growing hillsides of Barolo (Mosconi di Monforte d'Alba), of Barbaresco (Asili di Barbaresco), of Roero (Bric del Medic di Montà), of Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba (Sorì del Ricchino di Diano d'Alba), of Moscato d'Asti (Municipality of Loazzolo), of Nizza (Municipality of Agliano Terme), of Barbera d'Asti (Municipality of Castagnole delle Lanze), of Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato (Municipality of Montemagno Monferrato), of Alta Langa (Municipality of Castel Rocchero) and of Timorasso (Strada Costa della Guardia di Brignano Frascata e Casasco).
The event was marked by the presence of the tasting counters of the producers involved in the "Short Supply Chain in the UNESCO Castle" project, with tastings paired with the prestigious Etna wines, with the aim of encouraging the development of short supply chains in local markets, supported by Regione Piemonte and by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, through operation 16.4.1 of the RDP.
