THE ENOTECA REGIONALE PIEMONTESE CAVOUR LOOKS BACK WITH SATISFACTION AT THE 8,461 TICKETS SOLD IN JULY AND AUGUST, A 32% INCREASE COMPARED TO THE SAME PRE-COVID PERIOD IN 2019.

It is a record-breaking summer that is drawing to a close this September for the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour: founded in 1967, the first wine shop of its in Piedmont and the second ever in Italy. The institution – originally set up to promote the knowledge and valorisation of the wines of the Langhe area as well as preserve the local food and wine tradition and which, over the years, has become a point of reference for the whole area – looks back on the past few months with a highly positive assessment and it is cautiously optimistic for the coming autumn.

In July and August this year, the Castle recorded a 32% increase in the number of paying visitors (compared to the same period in 2019, i.e. pre-Covid times): in total, 8,461 people bought a ticket to access the Langhe Museum, compared to 6,420 in the same period in 2019. The overall numbers are even higher, including free access to the Enoteca and the “In Vigna” open-air museum, which attracted over 20,000 visitors to the Castle area.

“We are really excited about this important achievement, it is the result of a process that began before the arrival of Covid-19 and which we now hope to have resumed, especially in view of the vaccination campaign, and we look to the future with cautious optimism,” says Roberto Bodrito, president of Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour. Despite the difficult economic situation, tourism is showing clear signs of recovery which we hope will be constantly confirmed and will bring to the Castle quality visitors with a good propensity to spend, as this will benefit the whole area. Since May, there have been many Italian tourists, mainly from northern Italy, and since July many foreigners have been travelling to our hills almost exclusively by car, mainly from Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Holland, France and Germany. Today, as autumn approaches, the first bookings from Americans are coming in.”

“The recently inaugurated ‘In Vigna’ Museum has certainly played a decisive role in attracting visitors, and has expanded our tourist offer with an innovative museum experience – adds Carlo Bo, Mayor of Alba and who, along with Gianfranco Garau, Mayor of Grinzane Cavour shares the role of vice-president of the Enoteca –. The world of outdoor tourism is becoming more and more complementary to the traditional food and wine offer of the region, and we are delighted that teamwork and recent investments have contributed to making the Castle an increasingly important reference point for our wonderful Unesco hills and for the entire Langhe, Roero and Monferrato area.”
